Dr. Kwang Bum Park


Dr. Kwang-Bum Park graduated from dental college of Kyungpook National University in 1985 and received his PhD degree in 1995 with the thesis about ‘the periodontal regeneration’. In 1993, he started seminars for private dentists to teach clinical periodontics and implant dentistry. Until now, more than 1,500 dentists completed this course in Korea. From 2000 to 2001, he went to the department of periodontics, school of dentistry, UCLA as a visiting scholar. After he came back from UCLA, he opened the biggest dental hospital called “MIR dental hospital” in Korea with 70 operatories and more than 20 dentists and 120 employees at Daegu, Korea in 2002.

With great success of the first “MIR dental hospital”, many dentists wanted to join and share the know-how and brand name. So he made a dental hospital network named “MIR Network”. Now it has 22 branches and more than 1000 employees and doctors in South Korea in 2009.

Almost at the same time with the opening of MIR dental hospital, he began a company called “MegaGen” to produce dental implants. In a short period of development, MegaGen took the leading position in the field of dental implant in Korea.

He is an active member of Academy of Osseointegration (AO) and also an international member of American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).

Dr. SAADOUN has received his Degree in Dental Surgery from the Faculty of Paris and completed his Post-Graduate Certificate in Periodontology at the University of Pennsylvania and Post-Graduate Certificate in Implantology at University of California in Los Angeles.

He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Southern California.

Dr. SAADOUN is an internatioally-known lecturer in Periodontology and Implantology and has written over 150 articles and several chapters of books.

He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodonology, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and President of the “Rencontres Méditerranéennes de Dentisterie”. He has also received the medal of “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite”.

Miltiades Mitsias

Optimizing anterior aesthetics: The Root membrane Technique.


Dr. Mitsias E. Miltiadis was born in 1975. He graduated form the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens obtaining his dental degree in 2000. By 2003 he completed his graduate studies in New York University in the Implant Department, where the last year he became a teaching fellow. Simultaneously he completed a Masters program in the Department of Biomaterials and Biomimetics.

Dr. Mitsias has lectured both internationally in many countries like US, Germany, Korea, Cyprus, Thailand, Iran, Lebanon, Russia, Kenya, Uganda, Netherlands and Greece. He has also published internationally. Since 2005 he is an instructor in the Department of Prosthodontics in University of Athens but also a research associate in the University of Kiel, Germany where he completed his PhD. In 2010, Dr. Mitsias was entitled a visiting faculty position in New York University at the Department of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry.

Lastly, he is owner and co-founder of the private dental clinic: www.dental-center.eu in Athens, Greece.


Loss of blood supply derived from the periodontal ligament (PDL) has been identified as a major etiologic factor for ridge resorption.1 Animal studies and case reports provide proof-of-principle data on the feasibility of immediate implant placement in proximity to a retained root fragment for the strategic preservation of the natural tooth apparatus.2 This novel concept relies on the preservation of PDL, buccal plate and facial soft tissue esthetics via selective preservation of the buccal portion of the root.3 Recently, the first longitudinal data on implant success using this technique for immediate implant placement in maxillary anterior sites were presented.

4 The root membrane technique is an excellent treatment modality for the esthetic rehabilitation of anterior sites. Recently published clinical research has shown that the root-membrane technique is not only a safe but also efficacious treatment approach.

This presentation will dive into the biological rationale behind the preservation of the buccal aspect of the root and periodontal apparatus during immediate implant placement and inform the audience on the indications and clinical steps for the use of this novel technique.

Dr. Ehab Moussa

Innovative soft tissue grafting around implants


Dr Moussa obtained his Bachelors degree in dentistry from The Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University, Egypt in 2009. Subsequently, he joined his father in a specialty practice with a primary focus on dental implant surgery.

In 2012 Dr Moussa joined the periodontics fellowship program at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio. Afterwards, he pursued a Masters degree in periodontics and joined the residency program at CWRU.

Recognizing the importance of sound prosthetic principles in a surgical practice, Dr Moussa commenced the fellowship program at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Throughout the fellowship Dr Moussa focused his efforts on gaining experience in dental implant prosthodontics, and managing complex restorative cases.

Currently Dr Moussa maintains a full time private practice position in New Orleans, Louisiana. His services are limited to periodontics, dental implant surgery, and prosthetics.

Teaching is a passion for Dr Moussa. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics that include; Hard and soft tissue augmentation around implants, partial extraction therapy, and periodontal plastic surgery.

Replacement of missing teeth with implants has made a revolutionary change in restorative dentistry.     For the successful implant treatment and prognosis, Implant position is a key factor.

    However, it is not always possible to ensure an ideal implant position. In other words, depending on the condition of the damaged alveolar bone and the form and change of the patient, additional surgical procedures are required. Therefore, there are many factors to be considered for a successful bone regeneration, and knowing this will lead to different bone regeneration results.

    Based on the classification of bone defects, it is necessary to appropriately select the type of bone materials, membrane.     The sinus augmentation technique is a method for achieving sufficient bone quantity when placing an implant at the atrophic posterior maxillary site. It is divided into 2 approaches: crestal and lateral approach, and each technique has its own advantages and disadvantages. Nowadays, many techniques and useful devices are introduced, but it is used based on the preference of the operator to be used this devices and it can be applied according to the clinical condition of the surgical site. Clearly, a slightly more comfortable, safe and reliable way for the patient is important.     Irfan Abas has graduated in Oral Implantology and Restorative Dentistry in 2010 from the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Besides his private practice near Amsterdam, he is also an author and editor for a Dutch Dental Magazine and has published nine articles.
